A few weeks ago, both
the magical book and my father, Sullivan disappeared. My mother sent me to stay with
Myrtle while she searched high and low for dad, believing all the while that he is out
there somewhere in the Enchanted World. I believe it too. I can feel it in my heart. But
now that Myrtle mentioned Twinkleflash, a flood of questions stirred in my mind. But the
question that came out seemed most important was, "Who is Twinkleflash?" As
we continued to walk Myrtle explained that Twinkleflash was a pupil of her's. But that he
used his magic powers for evil. His only dream was to steal The Big Book of Magic,
and he may have finally succeeded. |

Myrtle stopped abruptly staring into
a nearby clearing. I watched silently as the fog rolled through the field revealing the
large oak tree where Twinkleflash lives. The tree's tangled branches looked like arms and
its trunk like the cranky face of an old hag. I looked to my grandmother, who patted my
hand to calm my fear. Inside that spooky old tree was where Twinkleflash was keeping The
Big Book of Magic. |
"We'll need disguises,"
suggested Myrtle as she shook out her hand. A wand appeared in it. Then Myrtle added, "Gotta
have my wand...now lets see." She had a serious expression as she thought
for a moment. Then she started her spell saying, "By taking the MY' and
making it TU' not with an 'O' sound but with a 'U' transforms Myrtle to Turtle is
what I'll do." She waved her wand as magic dust swirled around her. |

Once it settled, my grandmother had
disappeared and in her place was a turtle wearing her witchs cap and shawl. I
blinked in amazement before asking, "What about me?" Turtle Myrtle smiled
at her forgetfulness, "Leave the "P" and take the "E" add the
"I" and leave the "G" now Peg becomes a Pig transformed just like
me!" With a flash of magic dust she transformed me into a cute brown pig. I was
wearing the same clothes, it was my body that had changed. "Cool!" I
exclaimed as I tried to examine my new form. |
Turtle Myrtle took a step toward
the clearing. I stopped her. I'll admit it - I was afraid. But Myrtle assured me that what
we were doing was right and would be for the good of everyone. I forced a smiled and
promised to be brave. We stepped out into the clearing toward Twinkleflash's Tree House. Check back soon for my next journal entry... |
