STUDIO CITY, CA (February 28, 2002) - What treasured memories will the children of today have when they look back at their childhood? Will it be a slew of reruns and even older classic characters, stale memories of a certain dinosaur, or will it be something fresh that is theirs alone? This concern has Blue Giraffe Productions offering an alternative by presenting the adventures of the "Magic Power Scouts." These videos about three kids who stumble into an Enchanted World where they're given the ability to transform into animals are from the creative mind of writer/director David Scott Harris and blend live actors, colorful puppets and 7 original songs. "Our target age group is 3 - 12 year-olds and of course their parents," says Harris. "We've taken great care not to talk down to our audience. I couldn't make videos that didn't appeal to both my inner child and my adult sensibilities."

The first tape of the series; "Magic Power Scouts: First Adventure!" has just been endorsed by Kids First! The Coalition for Quality Children's Media. Their jury found that kids liked the adventure, the magic and how they change into animal forms. Some juror comments were: "At first I thought it was weird, but then I liked it...I want to see more..." How do the folks at Blue Giraffe feel about these accolades? "We're very excited about this endorsement because parents can feel secure letting their children watch the videos," says Harris.

It's been a long haul for the team at Blue Giraffe who financed the films and have done the marketing in-house. Taking a grass roots approach, the videos and puppets have toured several Farmer's Markets to test their appeal. The expressions on kids' faces as well as the positive responses from the parents who welcome the videos make the hard work worthwhile.
